Queen Of Quicksilver
A downloadable game for Android
"Queen of Quiksilver" is an educational point-and-click chemistry game for Android that uses a story in combination with five mini-games to introduce players to various chemistry topics in a fun way. The topics covered include balancing reaction equations, converting words into reaction equations, trivial names and element symbols.
This game was developed over three semesters by seven students from the Media Informatics and Interactive Entertainment program at Mittweida University of Applied Sciences. During this period, they created a prototype for an educational game designed to support students in learning chemistry. They received this task as part of the "Science and Business" module.
Elia is desperately searching for a cure for her sister who is suffering from cholera. Rumors lead her to a professor who claims to have developed an effective remedy. However, when she arrives at the professor's modest laboratory, she discovers that he has disappeared without a trace. Elia senses that something is wrong and decides to go on a quest to not only find the cure that will save her, but also to unravel the mystery behind the professor's sudden disappearance.
In the game "Element Catch", the player is introduced to the element symbols. This is done by the player having to catch the falling Erlenmeyer flask with the correct element symbol for the displayed element in a basket.
The "Quiz" tests knowledge of trivial names. The player must either find the correct equation for the trivial name or the correct trivial name for the displayed formula.
In the "Reaction Puzzle", the two related parts, i.e. the reactant and the product, have to be put together correctly in a reaction equation.
The aim of the "Reaction Run" is to quickly find the correct answer and run into the right minecart. The missing element in the displayed reaction equation must be identified.
In "Reaction Completion", everything revolves around balancing the reaction equations. To do this, the correct coefficients must be set.
